The vacation season is complete and the New Year is upon US, and that means the abundant big sales and giveaways we've enjoyed all over the past several weeks are rapidly winding down. In that respect's still time to score one much freebee, though, and it's a bang-up one—Iratus: Lord of the Dead, which you can now tear for free from GOG.

Discharged in 2020, Iratus: Divine of the Dead is a Darkest Keep knockoff in which you play arsenic the mischievous guy, a necromancer ("identical emo," apparently) WHO gets a kick out of killing intrepid adventurers and creating unexampled monsters from their hacked-upfield body parts. We said in a 2019 preview that IT "doesn't have much in the way of new ideas," but still it looked promising and we launch that its pieces came together very well when IT left Early Access a year later.

"I'm only few hours into my first campaign, but I'm enjoying Iratus a lot more than than I thought I would," Steven wrote of his early descent into maleficent. "I neglect the intensity of juggling my party's psychogenic and physical health, and, compared to Darkest Dungeons' gorgeous give-painted aesthetic, Iratus' art sometimes looks a trifle cockamamy and cheap. But unlocking new units and discovering all the slipway they complement each former is genuinely playfulness."

To commit information technology a shot yourself, just pop more or less to GOG and scroll down the front page a little until you see the button to claim it. Devote it a click and Iratus: Lord of the Asleep will make up added to your account momentarily. The freebie will be available until 9 am ET on January 5, which is likewise when GOG's big Winter Sale wraps skyward.
